For the last few years, I’ve gone through a journey of unlearning and learning, and at one point in time, I felt like I was moving backwards. I came to understand that much of what I believed to be true was actually a lie, and what I thought I knew, I didn’t truly understand. It was a humbling experience to say the least.

“I should be further in my faith by now.” was what I kept telling myself. I had been in church my whole life, I desired great strides in my understanding of God because I genuinely yearned for a true relationship with Him. But because there was never a solid faith foundation, I always found myself confused, worried, and without true joy + life.

So there I was, building my faith from the ground up.

This season felt like a setback in my Christian journey. I was asking myself questions like ‘what is my identity?’ and “who is this God that I’ve received?” As I was building on these foundational truths, I quickly realized that I was being built to last.

To build higher, you must first dig deeper and create a strong foundation. Once the foundation is laid, a master builder will take his time to intentionally build a house brick by brick. If using the right materials, the final product will last forever, and be of good use.

In the same way, an intentional building of faith on the right foundation (Jesus) and the right tools (the Word of God + prayer) will allow you to go through any trouble and trial with a confidence that you will never crumble.

But some say there are many foundations, and technically, they’re right. You could build on anything: paper, metal, sheetrock, even wood. But there is only one foundation that will last according to our anchor verse below.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise,
like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock

But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish,
like a person who builds a house on sand.
When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash."
Matthew 7:24-27 NLT

We all came from God, and to know Jesus, the only firm foundation, is the only key to knowing who we are, and our true purpose on this Earth. He is the only key for hope and an abundant life.

If what you consider to be a firm foundation is actually collapsing and unable to sustain you, wouldn’t you desire something that’s going to stand the test of time?

So, either you’re reading this as a new believer, a professed believer for a number of years, or you’re someone who is seeking to know the Truth; I want to encourage you that no matter where you are on your faith journey, it is not too late to go to your foundations to ensure that you have an understanding that is built on the only true and living God.

I invite you to join me as we go on a journey for the next four weeks uncovering the foundations of this faith.

“[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]” Ephesians 1:17 AMP

Questions to Consider:

  1. Do you know the Good News (Gospel) of Jesus Christ?
    • If you do, are you able to share it with somebody if they asked?
  2. Who is God? Can you point out in the Bible where it says that Jesus is God?
    • Are you able to explain the Trinity and can you point in the Bible where this is explained?
  3. Do you know that there is a new identity in Christ?
    • If you’ve received Christ, are you walking in your New Creation identity according to 2 Corinthians 5:17?

Do not fret if you cannot sincerely answer these questions!

There is no greater time to start than now.

Join me on this journey as we build faith on a firm foundation

[…] Christ, the only Truth, is bound to fail. That’s what we covered in the beginning of the foundation series, if you build a house on the wrong foundation, it will eventually collapse. […]
