I want to confidently say that my best friend is the Holy Spirit, but the only thing is, I just might happen to be the friend that talks way too much, sometimes never leaving room for the Holy Spirit to speak to me about what I’m seeking Him for.
On the days that I actually rest in His presence, and not rush the moment, the revelation, peace, and utterances from the Holy Spirit quicken me and keep me going for the day, week, or even month!
However, I heard this pastor share something that I thought was so powerful and convicting. They were saying that we should not be content with the Word that we received from God a while ago. If God told us to pray continually, and the Holy Spirit teaches us all things, that means there’s always a new thing He wants to say, or something He wants to remind us. If we are in constant prayer with God, asking and seeking and knocking, we will always be answered because He is a Father who always speaks to His children.
when we pray, He not only listens, but also answers:
Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!
Psalm 116:2
And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask,
we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.
1 John 5:15
My prayer is that would be so keen to the Holy Spirit that we are constantly receiving downloads, teachings, and understanding from the Holy Spirit.
This requires that we be in constant prayer in our spirit, always open and ready for God to speak.
Consider this: Maybe it’s not that we have to ask for God to speak to us.
Maybe it’s that we need to open our ears to hear.
Maybe the noise around us needs to be quieted for us to soak in the presence of God and receive all that He wants to give you.
Other times, we simply need to withdraw and pray.
But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Luke 5:16
Notice how it only said He went to lonely places, and not that He was lonely. Jesus was never alone and was always going to places by Himself to commune with the Father.
Prayer in community is great! Going to church and being in a bible study is amazing!
However, remember God is calling you to Himself, to be more like Jesus and withdraw to spend time with the lover of your soul.
