You crown the year with Your goodness,
And Your paths drip with abundance.

Psalm 65:11 NKJV

With the year wrapping up, it is so easy to go straight into planning new year resolutions without looking back at the previous year and reflecting.

Without reflection, you cannot have resolution.

Reflection should be a threefold process:

  1. Pondering (What happened this year?)
  2. Analyzing (What did I do to make this happen?)
  3. Planning (Now what should I do differently or the same?)

While reflecting on the year, partner with the Holy Spirit to lead you. The Holy Spirit is there to Comfort during hard self-reflections (John 14:26), there to lead us into all truth of each matter (John 16:3), and will also bring to our remembrance all that God has told us (John 14:26).

If you’re looking back at the year at things not accomplished, don’t get discouraged.

Remember…

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

Proverbs 19:21 NLT

If you were truly leaning on God (be real here lol, God cannot be mocked) and acknowledged Him in all your ways, do not be discouraged! This could be God’s way of rerouting you to His perfect will for your life.

If not, start now, write down what you learned and ask God to give you more trust in His divine plan for your life.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Also, Remember to Give Thanks!

  • I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory! (Psalm 118:21 NLT)
  • Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies. (Psalm 107:1-2 NLT)

Overall, as you reflect on this past year and resolve for this coming year, remember that if you trust Him, He will perfect His plan for your life, and you already know His plan is the best plan.

The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.

Psalm 138:8

You made it to the end of 2022! Not by chance. You are here for a purpose. Don’t live life without fulfilling all that God has for you to do.

My prayer is that God will usher you into 2023 with full joy, and peace! Let this be God’s year for your life and watch Him work.

The Lord remembers us and will bless us.
He will bless the people of Israel
and bless the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
He will bless those who fear the Lord,
    both great and lowly.

 May the Lord richly bless
    both you and your children.
May you be blessed by the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 115:12-15 NLT

Happy New Year!
